Thomas Butler

Head of Education

Thomas Butler is Head of Education at TransferMate, driving innovation in payment solutions for the education sector. He leads teams focused on developing seamless, secure systems that simplify how institutions, platforms and students send and receive international payments. Under his guidance, TransferMate powers collections in over 140 currencies across more than 200 countries, with fully regulated infrastructure and integrations via APIs, white-label platforms and embedded solutions. Thomas works with both educational institutions and software partners to reduce bank fees, improve FX rates, automate reconciliation, cut administration and enhance transparency — all to improve the payment experience and financial operations in education globally.

Thiago de Oliveira Gonçalves

With over 15 years of experience in learning and development initiatives, he specializes in designing impactful educational solutions that drive sustainable growth for individuals, organizations, and governments. Over the past nine years, he has led the implementation and expansion of Egali in Mexico, enabling more than 5,000 Mexican students to pursue international academic experiences in destinations such as Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany, among others. His current focus is on enhancing organizational efficiency through the strategic use of artificial intelligence, particularly in optimizing customer experience and service delivery.

Marlon Fiacco

Co Director

International higher education consultant with over 11 years of experience and a background in Finance from Rider University and Rutgers University (USA). As Co-Director of Edu Consulting, he supports academic internationalization and strategic partnerships between European, American, and Latin American institutions. Currently leading student recruitment, summer programs, and institutional partnerships for Universidad Europea in Latin America, he works closely with schools, agencies, governments, and private organizations in more than 15 countries. With strong expertise in international expansion, commercial strategy, and market development, he plays a key role in building long-term academic collaborations between Europe and Latin America.

Gareth Jones

Director, International Enrolment, Recruitment & Market Development

With more than 15 years of leadership experience in international education, Gareth Jones has worked across academics, global engagement, student services, and international recruitment, building integrated approaches to enrolment strategy and student success. He currently serves as Director of International Enrolment, Recruitment & Market Development at Douglas College in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, where he leads institution-wide strategies grounded in data-driven decision-making, market diversification, and responsible growth. His international marketing and recruitment division, both on and offshore, ensures Douglas College remains a destination of choice for students from over 100 countries. Gareth’s international experience includes several years living and working in Taiwan, an early chapter in his career that strengthened his global perspective and commitment to cross-cultural engagement—values that continue to inform his leadership approach today. In a rapidly evolving international education landscape, Gareth is focused on leading change, strengthening partnerships, and advancing innovative recruitment and enrolment models that align institutional priorities with student outcomes.

Evan Jerome

Evan is a leader with over 28 years of experience in higher education, supporting first-generation students. As Senior Vice President of International Programs at Monroe University, he served on the President’s Executive Committee for 15 years. His areas of focus have included building new enrollment domestically and internationally, coupled with a strong commitment to student retention. Founded in 1933, Monroe University serves 9,500 students pursuing career-focused degrees at campuses in New York City, online, and in St. Lucia. Monroe University is regionally accredited by the Middle States Association and by the State of New York.
